Hart Acre Farms was established by Manley and Myrtle Hart in 1943 and began as a dairy farm with 130 acres. The farm was succeeded by Vern and Barbara Hart until 1989 when Vern entered partnership with his son Herbert. Vern played a vital role in all farm operations through his retirement and in his 85th year Vern died in the homestead on the farm. The family farm has been a gathering place through the decades for the many generations that have followed Manley and Myrtle. Herbert raised his four children with his wife Lisa on the farm. Across the lifespan of Herbert’s family Hart Acre Farms has provided opportunities for play, exploration, learning, and employment.

Through his succession Herbert and Lisa have grown the farming operation to 1000 workable acres for planting and harvesting winter wheat, soybeans, corn, and canola. In 2012 Herb established sister company Hart Acre Grains as a means to store his growing inventory but quickly saw it as an opportunity to support local farmers, the local economy, and grow his business further
